To demostrate a technique to manage nuclear fragments in the vitreous, without the use of a fragmatome. Fragamatomes are 20 gauge, sutured incisions are needed for its use. We use 25g vitrectomy, perflourocarbon liquid to float up nucleus and phacoemulsification behind the remaining anterior capsule, followed by removal of perflourocarbon liquid and IOL placement. This technique requires less instrumentation, allowing use of small gauge vitrectomy and preserves a completly sutureless approach.
