Subretinal Vital Dyes during ILM Peeling
7: 00, J. Fernando Arevalo, MD, FACS
Complications in vitreoretinal surgery are common. However, accidental subretinal migration of vital dyes during internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling is uncommon. This video presents 3 cases of subretinal indocyanine green or brilliant blue G during macular hole, and epiretinal membrane surgery. Vital dyes injection should be performed carefully to avoid an iatrogenic jet stream, which may allow subretinal migration, leading to atrophic retinal pigment epithelium defects.
